How it works

We aim get your new author website looking exactly how you like and working to grow your mailing list and promote your books as soon as possible. If you get stuck at any stage we are only an email away.

1. Sign Up

You can get an author website from just $5 a month. At sign up you choose if you want our fully managed hosting service or if you'd rather pay a one time cost and self-host your author website with a provider of your choice.

2. Complete the Questionnaire

After you sign up you will recieve a link to your personalised questionnaire. It's an editable Google Doc you fill in, review, and update. Email us when you're done and we'll move on to the next step.

3. Review Your Site

We'll confirm we have your completed questionnaire and get straight to work building your website. When we're done, usually within 3 working days, we will email you a link to review and ask if you'd like any changes.

4. Update Your DNS

When you have approved your site we'll ask that you change the name server details with your domain registrar. We use the Cloudflare content delivery network  fro added security and site loading speed. Cloudflare offer excellent documentation on how to do this but if you get stuck drop us an email.

5. Go Write

Seriously, go write, we've got this. We're going to send you regular, non-marketing, emails with updates and recomendations. You can email us anytime with questions about your site, new book detials, or design changes. You can even email us about something cool you've seen online and ask if we can incorportate it into your website.

We know a fully managed author website without admin or editorial access is not for everyone.

It’s 100% your website. You own it but we manage it on your behalf including all design and content updates. We do this for two reasons.

  1. You get more writing time (yay!)
  2. We get fewer service incidents which helps keep our prices low.

People

We'd estimate over 95% of support tickets we dealt with over the years were caused by people. Not in a malicious way. Usually in a ‘what happens when I press this big red button’ kind of way.

Not you obviously. You’re one of the 5% who doesn’t muck about but we need a system to manage those who can’t resist adding a new plugin, uploading a 45 mb image file or inserting a cool looking code snippet they just found on Reddit.

With our fully managed service looks after your author website. We'll action your email requests for updates and changes within 3 working days.

If you cancel your hosted service with us we take a fresh backup of your website which we archive for 90 days. Next, we remove our licenses for the professional plugins we use on your site, update your owner's manual and send it to your account email with confirmation we have added you as an admin to the website.

At this point we stop managing your site.

We continue to host your site on our servers for 60 days to give you plenty of time to migrate to another web host.

We recommend using InstaWP for your migration. It's 100% free and very easy to use.

We can help migrate your site for you but that is a paid service charged at $35 an hour.

Yes. We recommend using our fully managed service but we can also sell you a one page author website to host with a service provider of your choice.

A one page website with dedicated book posts is ideal for most authors. It's fast, straightforward to manage and easy for visitors to navigate.

Not Yet. We are launching with our One Page Website service that doesn't include a blog but we are working to add that feature as soon as possible. Contact us if you're an established Author Blogger to see what we can do for you.

We get it. We're a startup and that carries an element of risk.

In the event we wake up one day and decide we're going to shut the whole thing down we have a plan.

  1. We'll let you know right away.
  2. You'll instantly get Admin access to your author website
  3. We'll also guide you through transferring to another web host with almost zero disruption.

Our whole setup is built around managing a site that you own and making it as easy as possible for you to move anywhere.

Our business plan aims at giving you at least 3 months notice ahead of any end of service.
