Create a High-Converting Newsletter Thank You Page

Build a newsletter thank you page that prompts subscribers to check their inbox, supports retargeting, and engages new readers with your complete series.

Last Updated: 13 December 2024

Introduction

In this lesson, you’ll discover how to build a newsletter sign-up thank you page that encourages new subscribers to check their inbox, confirms their action for analytics and ad targeting, and increases engagement with your book series. By guiding readers through the next step in your funnel and showcasing your complete catalog, you’ll leverage this page to nurture stronger reader relationships, boost conversions, and optimize your author platform for long-term growth.

What does a sign up thank you page do?

A newsletter sign up thank you page does two major things.

  1. It asks the new subscriber to check their inbox
  2. It tells analytic tags and pixels what success look like

Check your inbox

Successful sales funnels, and that’s exactly what a newsletter sign up is, part or all of a sales funnel, are made up of small steps for the visitor leading to a big result for us, the author.

The big result for us is getting a new reader who downloads our book, reads it, loves it, leaves a 5 star review and tells all their friends to buy the book as well.

It’s beyond the scope of this course  to follow that funnel all the way through but it starts with getting a visitor to sign up on the website AND open the first email we send them.

That’s where the Thank You Page comes in.

In Dirk’s newsletter thank you page he THANKS the new subscriber for signing up and then asks them to go check their inbox. This example is for a double opt-in mailing list.

Those are the two most important message for this page which is why they are at the top.

Pixels, Tags, and Data – oh my!

The second reason this page is so powerful is because we can use it to signal analytics and advertising platforms including Google, Meta and others that the person on this page has carried out a valuable action I.E> signed up as a subscriber.

Ad platforms can use this data to target audiences most likely to take the same action so that you get more conversions (new subscribers) for less cost.

Summary

Thanks to design presets and global blocks we built an important page very quickly. When this author website gets a new subscriber that subscriber is taken  to a new page where they are thanked and given guidance on what to do next. This is a great opportunity for relationship building with a new subscriber. I’ve seen authors expand on this page with personalisation, videos, quizzes and more to elevate this beyond a boiler plate thank you.

This thank you page also provides a solid foundation for conversion based ads to help algorithms from Google, Meta and more target the best audience for your ads.
