Add custom fields for your book’s primary call to action, the action you most want visitors to take, boosting conversions and aligning with your marketing goals.
As the author owner of your website YOU get to decide what the primary call to action for your book posts should be.
If you’re a direct seller you may want your primary call to action to send visitors to your online store to purchase your book.
If you’re an Amazon exclusive author you may want your primary call to action button to use a smart, geographically aware hyperlink to the visitors nearest Amazon store.
We are going to use custom fields to define the primary call to action button to say and go wherever you like for each individual book.
We are finally going to use a different field type than number. In fact we are going to use a special field type. We’ll start from the WordPress Admin side bar and go to ACF then Field Groups and add a new field.
Make this field group a required field.
The Group field type provides a way to structure fields into groups. It assists in better organising the edit screen UI as well as the data.
We won’t enter any information into the Group field type from the Book Post. Instead we will add sub-fields for our data entry. These subfields are just like regular custom field types but organised under the Group field we just set up.
I’ll add the two required sub-fields to show you this in action.
Let’s go see what this Group field with it’s subfields looks like on our Books Custom Post Type
We now have the option to add the button text and url for our Primary call to action. I’m going to use this book book to demonstrate a free-first-in-series strategy later in this course so I’ll add the following values
This lesson covered how to create and configure a Primary Call-to-Action field group with ACF, including sub-fields for button text and URL. By adding these fields to your Books Custom Post Type, you gain full control over the CTAs on each book page, ensuring they align with your sales or marketing strategies. This customisation enhances your site’s flexibility, professionalism, and ability to convert visitors into readers or customers.
