Display Your Latest Book Releases with a Post Loop

In this lesson, you’ll learn how to highlight your newest book titles on your author website by integrating a dynamic “Latest Releases” section with Breakdance. By configuring a Post Loop Builder element and tapping into the “Other Books Max” global block, you’ll create a responsive, visually appealing grid that showcases your most recent works. This approach not only enhances user engagement but also boosts SEO, ultimately helping more readers discover and enjoy your latest offerings.

Latest Releases Post Loop Builder

Add a new Section

• Edit the Single Book Template in Breakdance
• Add a New Section to the bottom of the template
• Use the Wide Section Preset
• I’ll name this the latest releases section
• Add a H2 heading
• Change the text to Latest Releases
• Add a text element below the heading
• Change the text to read ‘The most recent releases from Dirk Volcano’

Add the Post Loop Builder

• Add a Post Loop Builder under the heading
• Choose Other Books Max as the Global Block
• Open the Query sub-tab
• Click custom
• Edit query
• Set post type to books
• Posts per page to 6
• Order by Descending
• Click apply

We’ve added out post loop builder to the template but let’s be honest it looks awful.

Style the Post Loop Builder

• Go to the design tab of the post loop builder
• Click on list
• Change the layout to Grid
• Change Items per row to 3 on desktop
• Change responsive view to Tablet Portrait 
• Change items per row to 2 for Tablet Portrait
• Go back to desktop view
• Change ‘One Item at’ to Phone Landscape
• Set Space between Items to 6 rem
• Go the Post sub-tab
• Edit Padding
• Set Left Padding to 0
• Save these design settings as the ‘Book Grid’ preset
• Click save

View Book Post

When we view the Adventure Danger Book Post in the work in progress site we have got our Latest Releases section with a post loop builder that uses or Other Books Max global block to display the results of the query.

Summary

In this lesson we used the ‘Other Books Max’ Global Block as the source for our Post Loop Builder to display other books by the author at the bottom of the Single Book template.

This post loop is a powerful visual tool to show your other books to readers.

But there’s a problem.

This version of the post loop builder will show up to 6 of your most recently published books but we don’t want to do that here.
